Our Welcome

Dear Members and Friends;

The Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) of Colonial Baptist Church invites you to become active in the ministry.  In 1888, a handful of women dedicated to the cause of missions founded WMU, which has become the largest Protestant organization for women in the world, with a membership of approximately 1 million. WMU also was the first and remains the largest body of organized laity in the Southern Baptist Convention.

WMU’s mission is to inform and inspire Christians to influence their world for Christ. Our vision statement is to “challenge Christian believers to understand and be radically involved in the mission of God.”

WMU accomplishes the mission and vision by doing the following:

Pray for Missions
We pray on behalf of mission work and missionaries and for the lost to find and know Christ’s redeeming love.

Engage in Mission Action and Witnessing
Our goal is to share the gospel in word and deed verbally and through our actions.

Learn About Missions
This helps us better understand what God says about making His name known throughout the earth.

Support Missions
We encourage the church to uphold the cause of missions, support missions work, and missions’ personnel.

Develop Spiritually Toward a Missions Lifestyle
We grow and develop daily through prayer, bible study and obedience to Christ directions and guidance

Participate in the Work of the Church and Denomination
WMU provides opportunities for church members to be involved in missions and fulfill its mission’s potential.

We are excited about participating in missions, and we look forward to having you join us at our monthly meetings.  We meet in F2 & F3 (close to the Fellowship Hall) at 7:00 pm every 2nd Thursday of the month.

Sincerely,

Charmaine Rochester, WMU Director

Mark 8:34 NIV Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
